Famous filmmaker Jason van Genderen spotted his three-year-old daughter Evie chatting nightly at her window before bedtime. He discovered that his little girl was actually talking to her grandmother who passed away this year.

"She misses her grandmother constantly but has found a new way to stay connected with her memory in these gorgeous little nightly rituals", he explained.

The footage shows the heartwarming moments Evie looks at the sky and speaks to her grandma's spirit before bed.

The child said: "I hope you are well. We don't want people to die. We want them to stay as they are and not go to the sky".

The video also shows the emotional moment the child says goodnight to her grandma and asks what she is going to dream about.

This will be the family's first Christmas without her. Jason said: "As we approach the festive season, we need to remember we can't always be present with our most loved and missed ones. Try to watch this one right through, and see what a toddler can teach us all about endless love".

Jason van Genderen's mother, Hendrika van Genderen, also known as "Oma", was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. The filmmaker's videos capturing the time he spent with her went viral online, and Oma became a big online celebrity.

Jason also produced a documentary titled "Everybody’s Oma" documenting the effects of dementia on his mother.
