Exhausted new mums will be able to relate to this video of a pet cat in Taiwan sleeping with a zombie-like expression on its face after nursing its kittens.

Video shows the mother feline, aptly named Mama, lying next to its kittens on a blanket in New Taipei City on 31 December.

The exhausted new mum clearly needed a deeper sleep than usual as she was filmed, zombie-like, with her eyes rolled back into her head and her tongue lolling out of her mouth.

When she finally woke up, her eyes hilariously rolled in their sockets until she was staring in the right direction again.

Cat owner Elvis Chen said: "My cat fell asleep while breastfeeding. My wife and mum couldn't stop laughing after seeing its face."
