Rare sun halo seen beaming over scenic New Zealand
A rare sun halo was seen beaming over Milford, New Zealand, on January 10.
An Irish couple on their honeymoon took a boat tour and noticed the optical phenomenon surrounding the sun.
"Is that a rainbow? I’ve never seen anything like that before", one onlooker was heard saying.
A sun halo is formed by light interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.
