This is the moment a motorcycle rider survived a crash by landing on the roof of a car he hit.

Sakarin Kitakit, 25, was speeding towards the intersection in the Mueang District of Krabi province, Thailand, but did not see the white Toyota Yaris making a turn on December 20.

His motorcycle slammed into the car's left side and flew from his seat but he was saved from the impact of landing on the hard ground when he stopped the hatchback's roof.

CCTV shows how Sakarin rode the car roof to safety as it slowly pulled into a driveway. He then slid down from the roof - dazed but without suffering any serious injuries.

Sakarin said: 'I didn't see the car turning across the road. It just came from nowhere and there was no time for me to stop.

'I remember lying on the roof of the car and not knowing what had happened. It was so quick. Thankfully I didn't hit the ground as that could have been really bad.'

Rescue services were called to the scene, where they found the car with a large dent on one side, while Sakarin's motorcycle was still overturned on the road.

The rider had a cut under his chin and a broken wrist. He was given first aid before being taken to the Krabi Hospital.

Road traffic officers investigating the crash checked CCTV and interviewed the driver. They have not taken action against either motorists and said the driver's insurance company will cover the cost of the damage to the car.
