Horses leap through flames for Spanish festival Las Luminarias
Footage shows Spain’s festival of Las Luminarias in the town of San Bartolome de Pinares, Avila on January 16, once again fulfilling a tradition of jumping their horses over a fire so that San Antonio Abad protects them from diseases.
San Antonio Abad was a Christian monk from Egypt known as the father of all monks.
PACMA and the National Association for the Protection and Welfare of Animals (ANPBA) ask that horses participating in the "Luminarias" not be forced to cross the flames.
