Girl’s Wholesome Realisation That Ariel From The New Little Mermaid Is Black
Uploaded by a Newsflare content partner
This nine year old girl reacted to the trailer of Disney's The Little Mermaid live action remake that has the black actress, Halle Bailey play the lead role of Ariel which had the young girl rolling around in excitement.
The mother of the little girl captured her daughter's reaction when the new teaser for the classic princess film was released on September 11 in Atlanta, Georgia.
She rejoiced in the fact that a major Disney character, no-less a princess was going to be portrayed and representing a different ethnicity than the original character.
The girl looked back-and-forth to her mother and the television as the realisation sinks in that there is a fully fledged black actress associated with such and iconic character like Ariel.
Her mother said: "I was so excited at how happy my daughter was that she sees representation of herself in the media.
"My daughter would like everyone to know how overwhelmed she is with the outpouring of love from her reaction.
"She wants all the black and brown girls and boys to know that they can do anything."
