Crane topples over damaging homes in Thailand
A 50-tonne crane toppled over damaging homes in Thailand.
The heavy vehicle fell while it was carrying construction equipment at an estate called Home Place The Park village in Nonthaburi province on January 26.
Builders said the load proved too much for machinery, causing the crane's arm to smash through the house. No one was injured as it was under repairs at the time.
Homeowner Kantiya Budda, 43, said the kitchen, her son's bedroom, and the house's cement beam were all damaged in the crash.
She had been renting a house during construction but hurried to the residence upon receiving a call from her neighbour that her home had been destroyed.
She said: 'I thought the damage wasn't severe, but I was shocked when I saw the state of the house.
'It was being maintained because the village was expanding, and my house was damaged during construction.'
She then called the police to estimate the damages. She added that she planned to file a formal complaint and demand compensation from the property developers in charge of the crane.
Speaking to local media, the construction foreman said the crane had been lifting equipment when its supporting leg collapsed, causing it to fall.
Discussions about reparations are ongoing.
