Cold front brings Arctic air to New England, causing 'steam devils' over lake in Burlington, Vermont
A cold front brought icy Arctic air to the northeastern US, causing rare 'steam devils' over Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont on Friday February 3.
The cold snap caused a significant temperature difference between the freezing air and warmer water below, creating the steam-like effect.
A similar phenomenon is called 'sea smoke' when it happens over the ocean.
The scene was filmed at around 15:00 local time.
