This is the shocking moment a singer was punched in the face by a drunken intruder who stormed the stage during a performance.

Jirakorn Sompitak was performing at the 'Walk In 88' nightclub in Pathum Thani, Thailand, on February 4 when the intoxicated man approached the stage to talk to him.

The customer appeared to whisper in the singer's ear but became violent when a guard tried to pull him away from the platform.

Footage shows how the man shoved the bouncer before turning on Jirakorn and hitting him in the face. The attacker then splashed his drink all over the stage as more bouncers came to rein him in.

Pub owner Pattanachai Lamka, 45, said the man had come in with a group of around nine other customers. None of them were regular patrons. He also apologised to the singer, who was scratched on his ear during the assault.

Jirakorn said in a statement: 'All of us should respect each other. Thank you all of you for your concern. Recently, a lot of singers have gotten into these kinds of incidents.'

The suspect, Thanawat Phiwthongngam, 29, turned himself in at the Chulalongkorn Pratunam Metropolitan Police Station two days later.

He claimed he had visited the bar where his girlfriend worked, and wanted to use the singer's microphone as he could not find her.

Thanawat said he was prepared to face the complaints against him.

Both Pattanachai and Jirakorn's agent said they will take legal action against Thanawat.
