The BBC's offices in Delhi and Mumbai have been raided by India's income tax department on February 14.

Footage shows the scene outside the broadcasting company's office in Delhi.

According to reports, documents were seized as well as journalists' laptops and phones.

The raids come after the BBC released a documentary titled “India: The Modi Question” that investigated Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s role in the Gujarat riots in 2002, when he was the state’s chief minister.

Teams of officials from the Income Tax Department are conducting ‘surveys’ at the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai. According to news reports the surveys were being carried out at multiple locations.
Reports says the ‘surveys’ were part of a “tax evasion investigation”, and that officials were looking at documents related to the business operations of the company ,
