A stranded cat was rescued with a bucket and bed sheet lowered from the balcony.

The two-year-old feline named Taba had been crying on the roof and calling for help after she jumped out of the window to wander around in Pampanga province, the Philippines on January 17.

Taba could not climb back into the room so her owner had to improvise with available objects in the bedroom to help her.

Footage shows the DIY rescue basket with cat food inside which was let down to the animal. Taba leapt inside and was safely taken back to their home.

Pet owner Achiel Ann Varona said: ‘This is how we save our cat whenever she's stuck here. I don't know why Taba kept on returning there even if she didn't know how to climb back.'

Achiel added that the first time Taba was stranded on the roof, she panicked and had the idea of using the dirty clothes basket and some cloth.

She said: ‘It was difficult at first because she couldn't understand what I was trying to do. So I placed food inside the basket and it became easier.'
