A glass table shattered as a homeowner in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, tried to protect their garden furniture from strong winds produced by Storm Otto.

Footage captured on Friday (February 17) shows the man moving two children's toy cars before picking up the glass table.

As he goes to turn it on its side, the glass table top shatters into hundreds of shards.

"A smashing start to a Friday morning," the filmer joked.

As Storm Otto started to take hold in East England, this man was in his back garden looking to secure some garden furniture when things took an unexpected turn, resulting in a smashing start to a Friday morning.

The glass smashed as the table was prepared to be turned on its back to protect the glass. The reaction is one of anger and resignation.
