Rescue at 2nd Alarm Working Structure Fire with Rescue Commerce Street, Shamokin, Pennsylvania

.04:13 hrs NCCC dispatched a working fire in the area of 514 Commerce Street before speading to neighboring Commercial structures Shamokin as police knocked on doors and discovered a resident was trapped on the 2nd division of the structure.
Hardin crawled underneath a window-mounted air conditioning unit as Shamokin Assistant Fire Chief Lester Yohe, of Rescue Fire Co., and Lt. Jim Hornberger, of Friendship Fire Co., ascended a ladder to rescue her. Yohe and Hornberger removed the air conditioner from the window and were able to pull Hardin through the window and take her to safety on the ground below.
Shamokin Battalion Chief Stephen Jeffery confirmed that the “woman was not injured due to the quick actions of firefighters”, she was transported to Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital for evaluation and is the only resident without a home due to this incident.
Command Battalion Fire Chief Jeffery stated “the woman crawled underneath a window-mounted air conditioning unit as firefighters ascended a ladder to make the rescue” “Once firefighters removed the air conditioner, they were able to pull the woman through the window and take her to safety” "At this time we don't think anyone else, other than the woman, was inside when the fire started," he said. "But we haven't started the investigation."
This fire is considered suspicious and is being investigated.
