A burst water main that flooded and damaged around 10 properties in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, has been fixed.

A major incident was declared on March 7 as dozens of homes were evacuated and left damaged following a water main break. According to eyewitnesses, workers at a nearby building site accidentally ruptured a high-pressure water pipe, causing water to shoot at least 50 feet into the air and flood homes below.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service confirmed on March 8 that the burst main had been fixed.

The flooding caused widespread damage, with homeowners seen frantically trying to sweep the water away from their properties.

Neighbours and strangers also lent a helping hand in the cleanup efforts. Emergency services, including Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue and police, responded to the scene at around 1:15 pm.

Station Manager Jason Caine from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue explained that the incident was caused by a work-related accident and that crews were working to contain the flooding and pump water out of the affected homes. He also warned that the disruption to local transport would likely last at least three days, and advised motorists to avoid the area if possible.
