Trafficker Smuggled Drugs To Jail In Sunflower Seeds In Tripoli, Lebanon

Police in Lebanon have seized a drug runner who attempted to smuggle narcotic pills into jail by hiding them inside sunflower seed husks.
The suspect, a 25-year-old Lebanese man, was caught with three bags of the seeds that were intended for an inmate at Batroun Prison. Upon inspection, Captagon and Artane pills were found concealed inside the seed husks. Both the courier and the inmate he was bringing the drugs to are being investigated.
Lebanese authorities have recently stepped up efforts to battle drug trafficking, with more than 960,000 Captagon pills seized in two thwarted drug smuggling operations.
