Manchester United press conference, Stockholm
STOCKHOLM - Manchester United manager David Moyes said "you don't have to convince anyone to play for Manchester United as the uncertainty about the future of striker Wayne Rooney rumbled on.
The subject of a £30 million weekend bid from Premier League rivals Chelsea, Rooney did not travel with the squad to the Stockholm friendly due to a shoulder injury.
As he left the press conference, Moyes told reporters that he saw it as his job to ensure Rooney was fit for the start of the Premier League season, which kicks off on August 17.
He declined to comment on any other possible transfer targets, including Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas, but said that the club did intend to strengthen the squad.
