Thousands gathered in London's Trafalgar Square on Tuesday (April 11) as junior doctors began their 96-hour walkout over pay.

The crowd chanted, "claps don't pay the bills", a reference to 'Clap for Carers' which took place during the Covid pandemic.

Placards spotted at the rally included "to hell with praise we deserve a raise", "broke + broken" and "we are quite cross".

Junior doctors are demanding a 35% pay rise, but the government says unless the BMA union ditches its 35% starting position, there will be no pay talks.
