Airport workers were seen removing tape strapped on a plane's wing as worried passengers boarded.

Footage shows the two men pulling off the silver-coloured material from the Airbus A320 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City, the Philippines on April 11.

The thick tape was rolled upon being removed, showing visible gaps on the spot where the wing was attached to the plane's body.

Abigail Gimoro, a passenger on flight 5J325 of Cebu Pacific Airlines going to Legazpi City, said they arrived safely but was concerned upon the sight of the tape.

She said: ‘It looked very much like duct tape. I was scared when I saw it.'

While Cebu Pacific has not released an official statement about the incident, most airlines use an aluminium-based material called ‘speed tape' that looks exactly like the garden variety duct tape for temporary repairs until engineers can check the aircraft.
