This is the moment a pitch invader at a Coventry City home match was taken down in no uncertain terms by a steward, to the applause of onlooking fans.

Coventry City were playing Reading on Saturday, April 22 when the pitch invader ran past the centre circle. A steward in hi vis workwear runs after him and hurls himself at the "fan" from behind - taking him down to cheers from the crowd at the 32,000-seater Coventry Building Society Arena.

But the persistent "fan" got up and in the end it required seven stewards in a stop-start effort to apprehend the man and take him away.

Opposition captain Andy Yiadom of Reading even tries to confront the pitch invader at one stage.

The "fan" is unlikely to be seen at the stadium again.

Coventry won the match 2-1.
