Six people were killed in the crash which happened at about 1 am local time on Interstate 40.

The bus came off the road and hit the support structure of an overpass which sheared away much of the roof of the vehicle.

The bus was traveling from Michigan and was carrying migrant workers back home to Laredo, Texas.

Six people are dead following a deadly bus crash in Arkansas. The accident occurred around 1 am Friday with a charter bus traveling westbound on Interstate 40. The bus left the roadway and hit a support structure of a overpass. The impact sheared away much of the back half of the roof of the bus. 3 of the fatalities were ejected from the bus with another partially ejected. The bus was traveling from Michigan and was carrying migrant workers back home to Laredo, Texas. Most of the 22 people who were on the bus were from Mexico. Traffic was diverted for hours but a inspection of the overpass bridge revealed no damage to the overpass other than some minor cosmetic damage. The bus has recently been sold from Continental Charters to Juan Vasquez Citrus and Hauling (based out of Lake Placid, Florida). At the time of the accident there was a light rain but there was no standing water on the road. The driver agreed to a drug test but drugs and alcohol are not suspected to play a role in the crash.
