A 70-year-old man had a narrow escape in south India when his mobile phone exploded and caught fire in his shirt pocket.

The incident took place at an eatery in Marottichal, Thrissur, Kerala on May 18th.

The eatery owner, whose said that the man with the exploding phone, named Eliyas, "is a local villager which often comes to the shop, around 10:00 am while having tea the mobile exploded. I ran for rescue. He sustained minor injuries only."
