This is the jaw-dropping moment a speeding car flew through the air after launching from a tow truck ramp in Georgia, USA.

Deputies from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office were responding to a crash and searching two suspects along Highway 84 on May 24 when a screeching sedan hurtled into the scene. It then drove straight onto a tow truck with its ramp lowered while parked next to the centre median.

Bodycam footage shows the car going over the back of the emergency vehicle and flipping through the air before hitting another car driving along the road. Bits of debris from the horror crash were scattered across the highway.

One of the officers was heard calling medics to the scene.

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said the car driver was a 21-year-old woman from Tallahassee, Florida. She survived the accident but was seriously injured and rushed to a hospital.

A deputy struck by debris was also taken to hospital.

A GSP report said the car went some 120 feet over the tow truck after flying from the ramp.

Police are yet to say if the female driver will be charged over the accident.
