A pet cat stuck on the roof of a building was rescued after it went missing for two days.

The feline escaped home to play outside but worried owner Thitanan Thanapakpon searched around the village when it failed to come home in Phuket province, Thailand on May 30.

It was found 48 hours later crying on top of a two-storey structure, unable to climb down.

Footage shows a neighbour standing on a ledge to pick up the stranded cat. The creature scaled up to chase the birds but was terrified to descend.

Thitanan said: ‘My cat likes to go out and explore the neighbourhood. But sometimes it would be caught in a problem and could not go home.

'This was the second time my cat went missing. I might have to keep it indoors for a while.'

The cat was immediately fed and given water as it had not eaten for two days, being stuck on the roof.

Despite starving, the creature was unhurt and taken home after the incident.
