Workers evacuated as magnitude 6.2 earthquake hits the Philippines
Workers were evacuated from buildings as a magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit the northern Philippines on Thursday morning.
Footage shows the employees wearing hard hats as they fled from buildings in Quezon City, Metro Manila, on June 15.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the earthquake struck northwest of Calatagan town in Batangas at 10:19 am local time.
It was recorded at a depth of 103 kilometres, and was felt in nearby provinces, including the capital Manila. Train lines around Metro Manila were temporarily suspended due to the tremors, the Department of Transport said.
PHIVOLCS said damage and aftershocks were expected.
The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
