A robot dog walked with its owner while shopping inside a mall.

Footage shows the white machine trotting alongside the man who held a rope attached to its neck in Makati City, the Philippines, on May 22.

The robo-pooch halted whenever its handler stopped to check out something in one of the shops.

Curious onlookers turned heads at the unusual pet - an AlphaDog series model made by Chinese robotics company Weilan.

Mall-goer Aivy Miselle Vitanzos said: ‘It only looks strange at first but if you think about it, the robot dog doesn't pee and poop, so that you can bring it everywhere. It's perfect for people who want companions.'

The AlphaDog, according to its makers, is one of the fastest robot dogs available in the market. It can run at a speed of up to 15km per hour and can spin on the spot like a happy puppy.
