A grandma who is a Harry Styles superfan has revealed her special connection with the star – including backstage meetups and giving him an award at the Grammys.

Meet Reina Lafantaisie, who is known online as Harry Styles’ oldest, and biggest, superfan with a one-of-a-kind relationship with the iconic pop star.

Her love dates back to the singer’s audition on the talent show, "X Factor", in 2010 and now, the grandma-of-five has dedicated her elder years to supporting him in his solo career.

Reina, aged 78, attended her first concert in January 2023 and prior to this, her granddaughter, Renee, 38, posted a TikTok of her gushing about Styles, where she said he was the "best entertainer" since Elvis Presley.

With 412,000 views and 67,000 likes, it wasn’t long before the video got noticed by the Grammys production team and soon, she was on stage giving out Harry's award for Album of the Year.

“I was so worried about messing up and reading the wrong name, but as I announced he had won, the room erupted in cheers," Reina, from Ontario, Canada, said.

“As he ran onto the stage, he gave me a massive hug and it was so genuine.

“I remember Renee telling me about the moment she got tickets for his show in Los Angeles and I wanted to see him so bad, that nothing was going to stop me.

“I love concerts, I’ve seen a lot in my lifetime, such as Elvis and Rod Stewart – but he’s better than them put together in my opinion.

"Then, a few days before the gig, she told me his team wanted me to go to the Grammy’s as his superfan after seeing my excited reaction.

“I was shocked and I couldn’t believe my luck.”

At the concert, Reina recalls feeling like a teenager again and her heart “pounding” out of her chest as they dressed up in pink feather boas while dancing around to his songs.

Just before the award show, the grandma claims she, along with nine other superfans, were asked to explain why their favourite artist should win Album of the Year for a video.

On the day, she handed a card to one of the producers to give to Harry Styles not thinking he’d ever get a glimpse of it or even know who she was.

But then, her video played on the big screen and after he accepted his award for Best Pop Vocal, he stopped to acknowledge Reina with a handshake and peck on the cheek.

She said: “I couldn’t believe my idol had recognised me, it felt like I was dreaming.

“During an ad break, I got up for the bathroom and I was standing in line when I saw Harry again – and to my shock, he made a beeline for me.

“I couldn't believe how humble he was as he thanked me for, in his words, my beautiful card."

As she arrived back to their hotel room, a basket full of merchandise was waiting for her courtesy of Harry and his team.

While she loves his music, she says her admiration for him stems from his attitude to life.

She said: “He oozes love and kindness and is such an overall good person who radiates loving energy – our world needs more people like Harry Styles.

“I listen to his music all day long, as his songs put me in such a great mood and his lyrics say everything you need to know about him.”

In the clip, Reina is shown speaking to her family, as she says: “Don’t keep correcting me, I’m talking about Harry Styles.”

She continues to gush about him and his personality, as someone else says: “I’m a little bit shocked about your obsession with Harry Styles.”

Reina confirms her opinion with saying: “I think he’s great.”

Users flocked to the comments to share their reactions, with many comparing themselves to her in years to come.

“Me in 50 years talking about him,” Duda said.

April added: “This was me at home for Christmas sharing my love for Harry with my family.”

“Now she gave him the Grammy for album of the year! Grammy gave him a Grammy,” Jacob said, followed by a laughing face emoji.

Cailin added: “She just gets it.”

“She is speaking facts,” someone else commented.

From listening to his albums at the start of each morning, to attending various concerts across the globe and special backstage meet-ups, she’s made a name for herself with his fanbase, being dubbed “Leader of the Harries."

Now, she's had messages from across the globe from his loyal fans and Reina says their support, and Harry of course, has added 20 years to her life.

Recently, she attended the star’s Love On Tour concert in Coventry on 22 and 23 May, where she was invited backstage to meet him and even received a special performance of her own.

She added: "I didn't see him walk into the walk at first, so I was shocked when all of a sudden he was in front of me holding my hand while singing Peaches and Herb's Reunited and it Feels So Good.

“It was so surreal and his smile lit up the room entirely.

"He makes the world a better place with his 'be kind' attitude toward people and he's a gem of a man – so humble, kind and caring.
“He gives me hope."
