STORYLINE:

Dutch and Chinese representatives agreed to boost cooperation in the new energy sector at a seminar held in Tilburg, the Netherlands on Tuesday.

The event was attended by representatives from the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands, the North Brabant Development Agency (BOM), and over 50 Dutch and Chinese companies.

It focused on leveraging the "Trade Fair in Warehouse" trade promotion program, in order to support new energy enterprises in both countries.

China's Jiangsu Province and Netherlands' North Brabant Province officially launched their cooperation on the platform one year ago, and it has contributed to Jiangsu-Netherlands trade, which increased by 11.6 percent last year.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): EELKO BRINKHOFF, Director of Foreign Investments and International Trade at the North Brabant Development Agency (BOM)
"Our world is far more interconnected than most people understand. The sister relationship between (North) Brabant and Jiangsu, and especially a strong partnership with the Jiangsu Department of Commerce, is a great platform to create new partnerships between companies from our countries and regions in finding solutions to tackle the challenges in climate, energy and food. We need each other. We cannot do things all alone."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): ROLAND VERBRAAK, General Manager of Dutch logistics company BTT
"We believe in growth of the business between the Netherlands and China. Currently, the business between our company and China is 80 percent of the amount from Asia. Of that 80 percent, I believe that 60 percent of that total volume is coming from China, and 10 percent of that volume is for sustainable products. We hope that in the near future it will grow to 30 or 40 percent sustainable products. And that will be mainly by means of lithium batteries, solar panels and other products which are developed in China very rapidly which are used by the European consumers."
