A Thai ladyboy has been arrested for allegedly luring men into sending nudes before blackmailing them.

Transgender woman Ekkapol, 29, who also goes by the name 'Praerie', reportedly seduced lonely husbands and bachelors online by posting suggestive photos of herself on social media.

When the men asked to meet up, she would allegedly ask them to send photos of their penis 'for size assessment purposes'.

She allegedly massaged the egos of hopeful men by saying she 'preferred average sizes' and did not want members that were 'too big'.

However, when the explicit pictures started rolling in, she would then use the images to blackmail her alleged victims - threatening to expose them to their wives if they did not pay.

An unnamed victim, fed up with waiting for a romp after wiring more than 40,000 THB (1,135 USD) to Ekkapol, reported her scheme to the police. An arrest warrant was issued by the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Court on April 4, eventually leading to the ladyboy's arrest on June 23.

Cops barged into Ekkapol's room in Bangkok and found her wearing a revealing outfit while streaming from her apartment. They cuffed her and took her to the police station.

Police Major General Teeradej Thumsutee, commander of the Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said the blackmail scam had been going on since 2021, and officers believe there were other ladyboys involved and many more victims.

He said: 'The arrest was made in response to incidents in 2021, where a group of transgender women enticed men on Twitter, promising to meet them but requesting photographs of their genitals for size assessment purposes.

'The victims were blackmailed and asked to transfer around 500 THB to 1,000 Baht each time. But the scammers persisted in their threats and, at times, demanded payments as often as four to five times per day.

'Many of the men were overwhelmed by fear and shame, and chose not to report the crimes. Some of them told us they even wanted to take their own lives.

'The police would like to warn internet users to exercise caution while engaging in online conversations. Those who believe they have fallen victim to these scams may report to us at the Investigation Division Metropolitan Police Bureau Facebook page. Officers are available to provide guidance and support.'
