A naughty pet dog had to be rescued when he dug a tunnel from his cage and ended up stuck in a hole in the adjacent wall.

The three-year-old pooch Heng Heng was bored and could not be kept idle inside his kennel in their home in Udon Thani province, Thailand on May 25.

Heng Heng thought it was a bright idea to escape by carving out the soft ground to reach the other side of the wall.

But the creature's owners were shocked when they heard him crying and his head was poking out of the concrete covered in mud.

Footage shows the hapless Heng Heng exhausted as his head was trapped in the narrow space. The concrete around his beck had to be chipped off so they could pull him out safely.

Pet owner Rewadee Sriprathet said: ‘He is very naughty. He likes to run around and destroy things, so we keep him inside to behave. But he could not last an hour and ended up almost hurting himself.'

Rewadee added her brother had to use a hammer to smash the wall and free the animal.

She said: ‘I was relieved he wasn't hurt. I hope he learned his lesson after that.'
