A disastrous incident unfolded on the night of June 23, 2023, as chaos erupted on the Simferopol highway (M-2) between Podolsk and the village of Aleksandrovka in the Moscow region, Russia. The calamity originated when a trailer, laden with pyrotechnics, detached from a truck traveling towards Moscow. The jolting caused by the explosive cargo potentially triggered the detonation, although the exact cause remains uncertain.

At approximately 23:45, the trailer became unhinged at the 42nd kilometer mark of the Simferopol highway, leading to a fiery accident. The driver, sensing trouble, swiftly maneuvered to the roadside and hastily abandoned the cab. For the next half an hour, a dazzling yet perilous fireworks display unfolded, with volleys detonating around the burning wreckage. Astonishingly, despite the reverberations being heard within a five-kilometer radius, no other vehicles were harmed. The prompt response from the fire department managed to quell the open flames by 00:34. Thankfully, the proximity of the incident to the surrounding forest, coupled with the region's prolonged drought, did not ignite a potentially catastrophic forest fire. By morning, the remnants of the trailer and cab were carefully dismantled and removed from the road, ensuring minimal disruption to traffic.
