STORYLINE:

Masood Khalid, former Pakistani ambassador to China, has praised China's achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which celebrated its 102nd birthday on Saturday.

"The transformation which China has achieved in the last 40 years or 40 years plus is, I call it no less than a human miracle. And China has established, the CPC has established, the leadership has established what hard work can bring to a country of the size and magnitude of China, which is 1.4 billion people. And nobody is starving in China.

800 million people have been lifted out of acute poverty in China, which is a great achievement, and the standard of living is constantly improving.

The sum total of China's development is to give benefits to its citizens. So this is at the core of the philosophy of the Communist Party (of China), of the Chinese leadership."

According to the China report of the 2023 Edelman Trust Barometer, an annual trust and credibility survey, among Chinese citizens interviewed by Edelman, a leading global public relations consultancy, 89 percent said that they trust their government, which is the highest percentage of all the countries surveyed.

The Pakistani diplomat said that "this trust is not easy to build."

"Independent surveys, even surveys conducted by the Western countries, have attested that the majority of the Chinese people have trust in the Communist Party of China. And why this trust? This trust is not easy to build. It has been developed, it has been established after a great deal of hard work, commitment, and vision of the Chinese leadership. People have seen that there has been a change in their life, a change for the better. And when the people, a common citizen of a country feels that there is a change for the better in his life, their trust grows. So that is, I think, at the center of the success of China's economy and China's model."
