A hero policeman rescued three cows stuck inside a burning barn.

Officer Andrew Crab was about to end his overnight shift when he noticed black smoke coming from a barn in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin on June 25.

Bodycam footage shows the dramatic scenes as the cop stormed into the burning facility. He removed the lock from a chain and scared the cattle away from the blaze.

After he opened the gates, the creatures ran out, and the volunteer fire brigade arrived soon after to help.

Officer Andrew said: ‘Once I realised what was going on inside that barn, I realised the gate didn't get undone and those cows were not going to make it.

‘So I ran in there and got the gate and then got them out. And I didn't have to really encourage them too much. They knew exactly what they needed to do once that gate was open.'

In a statement, the police department confirmed the cop saved three cows.

Sturgeon Bay Police Department said: ‘The officer was able to quickly respond to the fire, entered, and rescued three cows trapped within the fire. Thankfully, everyone was safe.'

No one was hurt in the incident, including the cows. Most of the barn was also spared from the fire.
