Chicago, USA, experienced a devastating tornado outbreak on July 13th, 2023, as confirmed by the National Weather Service. At least 11 tornadoes touched down in the area, with damage assessment teams still evaluating whether additional touchdowns occurred. The powerful storms caused widespread destruction, leaving a trail of damaged homes, uprooted trees, and battered businesses in their wake. @merglio captured a video with sirens being heard in the background in the South Loop Chicago area in response to the tornadoes.

Among the tornadoes, three were classified as EF-1, boasting wind speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. One of these tornadoes struck suburban Elgin, with a track stretching from Route 47 to the west of Villa Olivia Golf Course. Another EF-1 tornado hit Elgin south of the first one, causing damage along McDonald Road and Hopps Road. The most powerful tornado of the outbreak, measuring over 110 miles per hour, tore through Burr Ridge and moved towards Stickney. Numerous trees were shredded, and several businesses suffered significant damage due to the destructive force of the tornadoes. Authorities continue to assess the extent of the devastation caused by this unprecedented tornado outbreak in the Chicago area.
