STORYLINE:

The 31st International University Sports Federation (FISU) Summer World University Games will take place in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province between July 28 and August 8.

Italy has announced a delegation of about 300 members for the event, making it one of the largest delegations from European countries.

Luciano Buonfiglio, a member of Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) said that the Universiade in Chengdu will build a bridge of communication among different civilizations for the world.

"For this is a very big event, and I am sure that people of China give the best welcome to athletes that come from all the world, because I know, and I am very happy to remember the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
