Ocean park tank mermaid gives glimpse of her colourful day-to-day life
An ocean park tank mermaid gives a glimpse of her colourful day-to-day life in this video.
Ruth Naomi Mariae Rosales joined her first professional show last year and said she had embraced the mermaid life in Cebu City, the Philippines.
From wearing pearl-adorned wigs and doing her waterproof makeup, Ruth makes sure she does her best to make little boys and girls happy.
Footage shows the beautiful real-life pink-haired mermaid with matching find swimming inside the aquarium and waving to kids behind the glass.
She wore a Princess Ariel-inspired costume, and a young boy shouted: ‘Over here, mum, a mermaid,' while pointing at her excitedly.
The professional mermaid said: ‘Being a mermaid is physically demanding and requires rigorous training to maintain the necessary skills and stamina.'
Ruth added she started freediving in 2020 and found friends who introduced her to mermaid swimming.
She said: ‘I trained with them and earned certification to become a pro. We now give courses to those who aspire to become mermaids.'
Sometimes, mermaid Ruth would be in the pool playing with the children or sitting in giant clam-designed sofas while interacting with the kids.
She added: ‘The most fulfilling aspect of being a mermaid is witnessing genuine happiness on the faces of children and even adults when they see us perform. It's truly heartwarming to bring joy and wonder to others.'
