"This year is celebrating its 57th edition. It is traditionally held in Zagreb. It is primarily a Zagreb international folklore festival. And since the beginning, we are gathering people from all around the world, together with Croatian folklore groups. And we are representing a category of traditional folklore dancers and singers and musicians in general."

In addition to the Croatian folklore groups, this year's festival invited performers from Georgia, India, Serbia, Spain, Belgium and Poland. The first festival in Zagreb took place in 1966, with the idea to present and affirm traditional culture and folklore. In 2014, the Croatian Ministry of Culture and the City of Zagreb declared the festival a cultural event of national significance.

"It is important because it is representing authentic and traditional folklore. We have multiple categories of folklore on the stage. It is usually what you see on all the folklore events. It is usually choreographed folklore, but we are trying to give our audience the groups that are from authentic category."
