A cafe has swerved a ban on street tables - by using boards fixed to motorcycles.

The Tee Yok Coffee stall in Bangkok, Thailand, used to have regular tables but they were ordered to remove them by the City Law Office for taking up too much space.

Council planners said the tables needed to go amid a drive to neaten up the city's notoriously messy streets. However, there were no restrictions on motorcycles being parked outside the shop.

Customers can now dine on boards perched while perched on scooter saddles at seats at the unusual roadside restaurant on the Si Thammathirat Road in Bangkok's Klongthom area.

The vehicles belong to the shop's workers and owners, who parks them on the pavement every day before strapping boards to the leather seats to create a makeshift dining area.

The owner of Tee Yok Coffee explained that the motorcycle seats also create a unique experience, using the portable flat surfaces for dining tables.

Customer numbers have soared since then, with locals flocking to the cafe to try the unusual tables.

While government jobsworths are powerless to act against the loophole without new laws being pushed through, which could take several years, if ever.

The shop is open from Monday to Saturday from 6 am to 4 pm, and offers various drinks, sandwiches, and soft-boiled eggs.
