A reveller stuck on a wooden beam next to a ferry was rescued by lifeboat crew in Poole, Dorset, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The distressed man was found by Poole RNLI sitting on a wooden beam on the quay wall at around 2:20 am on July 29.

Two rescuers boarded the vessel and another three stepped ashore to help the reveller onto the ferry.

The person was checked for injuries as a bystander reported they had hit their head. The casualty was later handed over to an ambulance.

The RNLI said: 'Thank you to the bystander who first offered assistance to the casualty and to the person who made the emergency call. This was launch 79 & 80 for Poole volunteers this year.'
