Grey-crowned Babblers (Pomatostomus temporalis rubeculus) are engaging birds that are found in the inland and northern areas of Australia. They live and breed in cooperative territorial groups of two to fifteen birds. The groups usually have a dominant breeding pair and several non-breeding Babblers that act as helpers, aiding the building of nests and the raising of the nestlings. This group comprised four birds, all of whom collaborated in renovating their large roost nest high in the branches of a River Gum. In addition to the roost nest, females lay their eggs in a smaller breeding nest. This large, domed roost nest has been used for years by the same group of Babblers and is made of sticks and lined with softer materials.
