Dozens of pet dogs competed in a lively 1km fun run mini-marathon race in the Philippines.

The active pooches took part in the annual 'Vermosa Green Run' held in Imus Town, Cavite province on June 25.

Footage shows the excited canines on leashes running alongside their owners on the track. Other more pampered dogs were pushed on trolleys or carried by their caretakers.

Onlooker Natalie Tarin said: 'It was quite a sight. So many cute and happy dogs attended the fun run.'

The event, themed 'We're Back And Greener Than Ever', was held to promote a healthy and active lifestyle, organisers said.

Participants were charged a 650 PHP (11.5 USD) fee to enter, and the proceeds were donated to a local charity's tree-planting program.
