Since 2014, a wide area of the region has suffered from fightings between the terrorist group Boko Haram and government forces.
People in the region have suffered all kinds of losses and many of them are immersed in great pain.
The ICRC project aims to help them recover and carry on with their life.
SOUNDBITE (French): EMERANCE VANESSA MBIA, ICRC psychologist
"In view of the suffering these people have experienced, as well as in their communities, ICRC has set up an assistance program to bring together the families of missing persons in several groups.
At the beginning, we would do an assessment to see the mental health of the person, and after eight sessions, another assessment would be done to see if there is any change, and in most cases, there is change."
