This is the dramatic moment an out-of-control truck sped past a house teetering on its side before crashing - narrowly missing a father and son.

CCTV shows the man and his young boy standing outside the home as the lorry carrying freshly-felled logs cam hurtling down the road in Krabi, southern Thailand, on August 23.

Miraculously, the vehicle missed both of them by mere inches as it passed by at an almost 45 degree angle.

Neighbours rushed to see what happened when they heard a loud crash outside while the stunned resident remained on the spot, and the boy fled to his mum.

Resident Film Korawan Kleangbut, who owns the security cameras that recorded the near-miss, said: ‘Our family lives next to the road, so I hope the drivers become more careful. The children and elderly could be hurt if they are reckless.'

The truck drifted about 50ft from the house before coming to a stop and spilling logs blocking one lane of the road.

The driver was unhurt and apologised to the residents before his vehicle was towed away from the area. He blamed a problem with the brakes for causing the crash.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
