A pet cat terrified its elderly owner - by bringing a live snake onto her bed.

The white-haired pensioner had sat down for a meal but was shocked when her beloved feline suddenly dropped the writhing green reptile onto her bed in Chachoengsao province, Thailand, on August 25.

CCTV footage shows the grandma grabbing her wooden back scratcher, which she used to repeatedly whack the tree snake on the head.

Seeing its master distressed at the offering, the black-and-white moggie scooped up the motionless snake and tried to escape.

However, the elderly woman was relentless and thorough, and gave the serpent several more blows to make sure it was dead.

The lady's grandson Chawin Boonprasert said: 'Grandma was about to have dinner when her pet cat brought the snake to her.

'She was lucky it was non-venomous, but I made sure to check under her bed in case there are other snakes around.'
