A bungling motorcycle carrying a toddler in his lap crashed through a glass shopfront while trying to dismount.

The father pulled into the driveway outside the store and was helping the three-year-old boy off the two-wheeler when the youngster accidentally turned the gas throttle.

CCTV footage shows the motorist accelerating and breaking through the transparent structure while dragging the boy with him.

No one was seriously hurt, and the rider agreed to pay for the damage to the shop in Sisaket province, northeast Thailand, on July 27.

Owner Anuthida said: 'The child was sitting in the front of the motorcycle when he crashed through the shop. I was relieved the child was not hurt.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
