Daredevil youths ignore safety appeals from RNLI and scramble on the fast eroding danger sand cliffs at Crantock beach Cornwall
National Trust owned Crantock beach and dune area is massively popular with visitors but in recent years the dune system has become increasingly unstable due to changing weather and sea conditions. However after Lifeguards have finished duty for the day many beach users are tempted to climb and play in less than secure areas. High tides and big wave conditions have visibly caused large collapses in the dune system. The National Trust has planned to allow the predicted increasing sea level to shape and move the beach and dune areas which reach 65 feet in height and allow a natural erosion, a large area will inevitably be lost to the sea over coming decades. The safety message for Crantock beach is also relayed by the RNLI as huge sand falls have recently been observed. visitors are encouraged to keep a safe distance from the dune areas wherever it meets the beach.
