A brave little girl crawled inside the sewer to save a trapped puppy.

The youngster and her parents were eating lunch when they heard a noise coming from behind their home in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Her father went to check and found a dog stuck in the underground cylinder drain. However, as he nor his wife could fit in the narrow tube, the fearless daughter volunteered to rescue the creature.

Footage shows the adorable girl with pigtails inching her way inside the claustrophobic space.

Proud father said: ‘The tight space was not accessible by me or my wife. Our daughter was with us and she asked if she could help.

‘It was starting to rain that time and the water would flow right along that drain so we let her do it. I stayed right behind her just to be safe.'

Her father flashed a purple torch on her way so she could properly see inside the dark chamber.

After a few moments, the triumphant little girl emerged holding the newborn pooch.

The dog was not hurt but it had soil and small rocks crusting around its nose. It was apparently recently born as it still hadn't opened its eyes yet when it was rescued.

The father added: ‘I am really proud of my little princess. She grew up to be a compassionate young girl and we are excited to see more of what she will do in the future. We love her so much.'

The family adopted the dog and named it Bujji.
