A bungling boyfriend misjudged his partner's mood when this public marriage proposal went spectacularly wrong.

The unknown man was seen kneeling on one knee in front of his girlfriend with an engagement ring in his hand and a bouquet of flowers in Zamboanga City, the Philippines, on September 21.

But the visibly annoyed young woman pushed away his diamond ring and then shoved the flowers back in his face. Eventually, the woman stormed away, leaving the brokenhearted man behind in the shopping mall.

Onlooker Kenneth Ando was just waiting for a friend when he witnessed the guy proposing to the woman and captured the heartbreaking scene.

He said: 'This was just a random guy proposing to his girlfriend. He didn't expect it to go so wrong. It was funny but I felt a little bit bad for him, too.'
