A wild monkey helped itself to snacks inside a coffee shop it raided with its friend in Thailand.

Footage shows the macaque sitting on the table and opening bag after bag of cupcakes it found beside the store counter in Lopburi province, Thailand, on September 22.

The cheeky primate stole more of the packaged pastry, clutching two in its left upper limb and biting one in its mouth before hopping away to leave.

Another monkey sat on the window ledge, waiting for its companion before hopping into a tree, followed by the thief monkey.

Pink Coffee Shop owner Pinmuk Moonvong said: 'The monkeys don't come here often, but when they come, I always give fruits to them. I put the food on the roof, and they will take it. They haven't irritated us so far.'

Lopburi has become a popular tourist destination because of its large population of monkeys. The monkeys are mostly long-tailed macaques, and they can be found all over the city, from the temples to the streets.

However, they can also be aggressive, and they have been known to steal food and belongings.
