A tiny tree snake was spotted poking out from a woman's car engine in Thailand.

The 3ft long non-venomous golden tree snake had slithered inside the white Japanese Toyota vehicle while it was parked in the resident's garage in Ang Thong province on October 9.

The car owner was shocked upon seeing the reptile peeking at her from the car's bumper grille. She grabbed a can of pesticide and proceeded to spray the engine compartment hoping to drive the tree snake away.

She said: 'I left the hood open after spraying it with insecticide. When I returned, the snake was already gone. It must have been irritated by the chemicals and fled.'

The golden tree snake Chrysopelea ornata, also known as the ornate flying snake, is a species of snake found in Southeast Asia. It is renowned for its unique ability to glide through the air by flattening its body and using its rib muscles to generate lift, allowing it to 'fly' between trees in search of prey.
