Tanzanian companies that produce a range of products, including coffee, tea, wine, dried foods, cassava and soybeans, have expressed high expectations as they prepare to participate in the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, China.

A farewell ceremony for Tanzanian exhibitors was held Thursday at the Chinese Embassy in Dar es Salaam.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): FRIDA ARCHARD, Finance and procurement manager for Alko Vintages
"For three years now, we have taken part in this expo, and our expectations this year are higher than in previous years. We are hoping to get more exposure of our products, more orders, and more customers from China."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): ULINGETA MBAMBA, Board chairman of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority
"I welcome all of you to go to this expo so that you can get a lot from the platform by networking, showcasing innovative products and services, and exploring potential partnerships. For those who will travel to China, let us exploit this opportunity."

Chen Mingjian, the Chinese ambassador to Tanzania, expressed her belief that the 6th CIIE would serve as an excellent platform for Chinese consumers to learn more about "Made in Tanzania" and develop a fondness for Tanzanian products.

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): CHEN MINGJIAN, Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania
"I'm convinced that Tanzanian coffee, avocados, cashews, etc., will appear on Chinese dining tables more and more. Imagine a Chinese person gets up early in the morning and takes a cup of coffee which is from the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. More and more Tanzanian elements can make the lives of Chinese consumers more colorful and through that, we can know better and more with each other and consolidate our traditional friendship."
